2010 Perennial Plant of the Year. Blue-green foliage and dark blue flowers. Blooms May to July. A sturdy native wildflower. Pods turn charcoal and provides visual interest in winter.
Bright yellow, fragrant flowers in October decorate this large shrub. One of the few plants to flower late in the season. The coarse leaves are green in summer then turn gold/yellow in fall.
U of M introduction. Red twigs and white flowers, followed by white berries in fall. Does well in poorly drained & moist soils. Reddish-purple fall color. Tight form.
Chartreuse flower spikes in spring before leaves appear. Green, fuzzy leaves appear after flowers and then a spectacular display of yellow-orange-red in the fall. Prefers acidic, well-drained soil. Slow growth rate.
